Also known as the Battle of Chaplin Hills or the Battle for Kentucky, fought October 8, 1862 during the American Civil War. The battle was a Union victory.
Today, the Perryville Battlefield - located in Boyle County, Kentucky - is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
The Battle of Perryville Commemoration re-enactment and festival has been named a Top 20 Event in the US. It is one of the largest Civil War re-enactments in the nation.
